Pashupati Renewables visited two operating hydropower projects in Dolakha on the 20th and 21st of December, 2022.
Location 1: Tallo Khare Khola Small Hydropower Project (TKKSHPP) 11 MW
- PRPL visited the Powerhouse of the 11 MW Project, on the first day. Discussions took place between the in-house engineers and the PRPL team about the operation and maintenance of the Powerhouse.
- Built near the confluence of Tamakoshi and the Khare River, the Powerhouse presents a unique challenge of preparing for floods in the Khare Khola and the Tamakoshi River. This was discussed with the TKKSHP in-house engineers as well.
- On the second day, the PRPL team accompanied by one of the in-house engineers of TKKSHPP. Being the first project on the Khare Khola presented many challenges but was handled well.
- TKKSHPP has also handled the social environment very well, as they are involved in road construction, local irrigation projects, community projects, etc.
Location 2: Suri Khola Hydropower (SKHP) 6.4 MW
- The second day we visited the Suri Khola Powerhouse. Discussions were held between the PRPL team and the operation and maintenance of the Powerhouse.
- The in-house team also gave the PRPL team a brief tour of the Powerhouse. The machine hall and the control room were shown to the PRPL team.
- The journey to the Headworks of the Project could not be made because of lack of time.
All in all, this was an educational trip for the PRPL team. Observing the workings of operational plants and getting information on the challenges faced by both projects will serve as great lessons for Our Team.
