Gham Power, GSMA, and Diyalo organized a Conclave on “Revitalizing Energy & Water Services in Nepal’s Urban Areas” on February 7, 2023.

The one-day gathering focused on Improving Urban Energy and Water Services in Nepal. The event for exchanging knowledge and networking comprised of both roundtable and panel discussions.
The first segment, in which PRPL participated, was a roundtable discussion on “Digitalization in Electricity Sector” featuring 13 distinguished speakers, including Dr. Sandip Shah, Chairman & Managing Director of PRPL, and Anjal Niraula, CEO of Gham Power. They discussed the current Challenges of Urban Energy in Nepal, the potential opportunities to counter these through Digitization, and the crucial role of Public-Private Partnerships in Energy to facilitate the scaling of Energy Digitization.
Dr. Shah discussed his experience in implementing Smart Metering in Western Europe. The conversation proved to be highly effective and had a positive outcome, yielding meaningful ideas to help overcome the difficulties in the supply of Energy and Water Services in Nepal. The roundtable discussion highlighted that creating new approaches, such as the use of Smart cards and Digital Metering, is essential in order to tackle the obstacles linked to Digitization and storage of energy in Nepal.
