The Board of Pashupati Renewables now boasts of equal occupancy by men and women.

Brief:
According to an IFC study of 20 companies associated with the energy industry in Nepal between late 2019 and early 2020, women’s representation on corporate boards is extremely limited. Of 132 board members, only 12 are women (9%). Although Nepal’s Companies Act 2006 calls for “at least one female director on the boards of public companies with one or more female shareholders” and international standards call for a third of the board being taken up by women, in reality, the situation is quite different.

Gender diversity is an important aspect for any corporation as it fosters a good working environment and discipline in the workplace, which is ultimately good for business. So, this is a great step taken towards gender parity by PRPL.

The Directors are talented and experienced individuals from their respective fields – Ms. Muna Sharma (Board Director), a highly experienced geotechnical and hydropower engineer with over two decades of experience in the Hydropower sector, and Ms. Sangye Dekyi Sherpa (Board Director), an experienced financial analyst holding leadership positions in multiple businesses in Nepal. PRPL is leading the way to an industry “Powered by Women”.
